Welcome to Gurleen Kaur Portfolio

ECE Diploma Candidate, Humber College

My journey into early childhood education began through meaningful experiences caring for my younger nieces and nephews. Spending time with them allowed me to explore storytelling, crafts, sports, and hands-on learning activities that sparked their curiosity and joy. Through these interactions, I discovered my natural ability to engage young children, create imaginative experiences, and support them emotionally. These early caregiving roles helped me understand the importance of acceptance, patience, and creativity in building trusting relationships with children. They also strengthened my passion for nurturing children’s development in a warm, playful, and responsive environment.

As an aspiring Early Childhood Educator, I hope to combine my creativity, love for photography, and passion for nature-based learning to create meaningful experiences for young learners. I aim to design inclusive learning spaces that honor each child’s unique needs, especially children requiring additional support. I am inspired by the power of innovative teaching methods and technology to enhance early learning. My long-term goal is to foster environmental awareness through gardening experiences and outdoor exploration so children can form deep connections with the natural world. I look forward to developing as a reflective, compassionate educator who celebrates every child’s individuality and potential.

Land Acknowledgement

I acknowledge that the City of Mississauga is situated on the traditional and treaty lands of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, covered under Treaty 13 (1805). This land is also part of the Dish With One Spoon Wampum Belt Covenant—an agreement between the Anishinaabe, Haudenosaunee, Wendat peoples, and allied nations to share the land peacefully and protect its resources for future generations.

By recognizing this territory, I honour the enduring presence, cultures, and contributions of Indigenous Peoples and commit to fostering relationships grounded in respect, understanding, and reconciliation.
